From the moment he stumbled into the nonprofit sector, Randy knew he had been given an opportunity to align his career with his passion for service. He has gained both theoretical knowledge and practical experience working in all three areas of philanthropy: private foundations, corporate giving, and public charities. His desire to combine hands-on work with academic rigor prompted Randy to earn an interdisciplinary doctorate in philanthropic studies through the University of Oklahoma in 2014. His dissertation was titled “Feeding Hope Through Tulsa’s Philanthropic Community.”
In his current role as Chief Internal Officer for Foundation Management, Randy pays attention to the myriad of details to ensure each client organization runs smoothly and devotes time to be sure every grant issued complies with the increasingly complex rules and regulations philanthropic organizations must follow.
Eager to share his passion for the sector, Randy has taught graduate-level courses at Oklahoma City University and East Central University. He has led workshops through Philanthropy Southwest, Sarkeys Foundation Southwest Regional Leadership Forum, and the Oklahoma Conference on Nonprofit Law & Finance, among others. A fan of lifelong learning, you can always find Randy engaged in conversation with his peers and with industry leaders. Randy has also taken on committee roles with organizations such as the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits, Palomar: Oklahoma City’s Family Justice Center, Mental Health Association, Funders Roundtable, etc.
Randy is a proud graduate of Leadership Oklahoma Class XXV… the best class ever!
